Didn't realise I'd been absent from the board for so long... only just came across this!
What a great find, and a great sense of community in raising the $340 (plus extra) to pay for it. Wonder if there'll be a response from the band at some point.
I'm just on my second listen now, must say Cousin To Cousin had the least impact of the new songs first time around and preferred the other two. Anybody else notice that teh bass line is very similar to Underneath It All by No Doubt?
Really like this angrier version of Glendora - wouldn't say I like it more or less than the EP version. Definitely like the heavier guitars, not sure how I feel about Jenny's angrier tone.
Blake sounds great on Papillon, but Jenny's voice sounds a bit muffled in the mix. I think the reason Frug got no votes is probably because it's the closest to the EP version so the least exciting "new" find. |

Changing my vote to '13'. Been listening to it over and over.
Great story and vocals.
The boys shooting bee bees 'and all that fucked up crap'
Although the (too short) guitar solo in 'Dead Cat' is pretty rare for them with the old fashioned sharp blues sound. _________________ Under cherry flowers none are strangers |

So glad RKives made me terminate my hibernation and finding this board again after some years. This is amazing! First RKives, then the bonus tape for it and now Sandbox Sessions. I'm just a bit afraid that I will be soon posting a message in here: "You know, I had a strange dream last night.. about some RK demo tape called Sandbox Sessions..."
After some listening I picked Dead Cat as my favourite. It is just so different than pretty much anything else they have done but all "new ones" are brilliant and from the familiar ones especially Glendora rocks.
I just feel such a freeloader to download this after your donation projects. If there is some still going on, I'd be happy to donate. |

I wish I could say that I were wild about any of them, but I loved the pleasant surprise of coming back and hearing those tracks from the golden era. My favorite would definitely be Cousin To Cousin. I wasn't too big on this version of Glendora, but it has begun to grow on me a bit. _________________ My username is apexsensation. But you can call me Jason if you'd like.
I'm now on Facebook, and will probably add you if you ask. |
