Aw yay I'm glad she came out. I wish I could have gone! Sometimes going to school far away isn't great.

sounds like it turned out less than awesome? http://culturemob.com/blog/review-of-jenny-and-johnny-at-toyota-antics-block-party-10-10-10

He really fucking bothers me. To the point where its not as easy to enjoy I'm Having Fun Now. I always try and separate the music from the person but since his antics always happen on stage (ive witnessed a couple) its hard to do.

He just needs to smoke a joint and chill the fuck out. You're dating one of the hottest girls on the underground rock scene ANDD she's considerably boosted your career and you actually can find a reason to be ANGRY?! He is an outrageous person in my humble opinion.

Oh haha I know. I live in MD but I just started going to school in Texas, so it's kind of a bummer to miss all these great shows. /Is/was it your birthday? Happy birthday!

Thank you, it is actually on Friday. I went to the show in Baltimore because I start Jury Duty on my birthday. Happy fucking birthday. :/ If I get out of it, I'm going to head to Austin and go to the show at Emo's.

It'd be cool to meet another person from the board. I hope I can go, maybe I'll pull the old "I'm racist towards every race" or "I'm not biased because this same situation happened to me and I got screwed" cards to get out of this. I can't miss classes to sit around and listen to people bitch about why they're right/wrong....unless I get something cool like a serial killer trial or something.

We had J&J interview each other for our winter issue out today and the bonus Q&A is online now (LINK). I haven't read the print issue yet but the extras made me laugh. Particularly Rice's last line here...

Venus Zine wrote:
JL: I never went to church. I went to temple a few times. It didn’t really inspire me musically.

JR: Not a lot of melody.

JL: No, just a different kind of melody. The bar mitzvah melodies. It’s hard to figure out the chords.

JR: It’s hard also to carry a tune when you’re carried around in one of those chairs.

By the way, we're working on redesigning the site so it's not nearly as ugly and hard to use. And I'm not meaning to plug the magazine again. Just thought people might be interested.

On Halloween night in New Orleans, the band all dressed as Jenny onstage. Here are my photos: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2071944&id=1200466362&l=d8a895c264

It was difficulty to get well lit shots because the lighting was stronger behind them than in front and I am loathe to use the flash, especially when I'm so close I could reach out and touch them if I wanted to.

Oh, and Johnathan was very nice to everyone that night.

Hey Rchamp, I see you were able to snag the ever elusive pic with Jenny. We hang out for awhile after the show, but we had to get back to MS for work. What time did she finally come out??

You know, I'm not sure but since I got home around 3AM, it was probably close to 230. Right around that time, someone got shot right around the corner and we didn't know about it.

Today 'I'm Having Fun Now' is the featured album on Amazon.com which means you can buy the MP3 version for only $3.99...

It's actually doing very well:

#2 Paid in MP3 Albums (See Top 100 Paid in MP3 Albums)
#1 in MP3 Downloads > MP3 Albums > Alternative Rock

According to the email from J+J the Amazon page would also feature an unreleased acoustic version of Big Wave, but I can't seem to find it...

Acoustic versions here: http://www.amazon.com/Jenny-And-Johnny/e/B003XR6BF0/ref=ntt_mus_dp_pel

I have a suspicion they are just recordings from that last NPR show

I might be totally out of the loop...but has a video for "Big Wave" ever been posted anywhere online? I know they posted a picture from the set last month or so...does it really take that long to edit a music video?

I was wondering about this too. You'd think it would be out by now. But then again, I know nothing of music/video production.

I've seen a few Year End lists and I'm pretty sure I haven't seen this mentioned in any of them. Have you seen J&J on any?

According to their twitter they are listed in the top 50 albums of the year by American Songwriter, showing up at #36. They are also listed in Rolling Stone's Best Singles of 2010, placing 18th.

New interview.

Here's an interesting bit about my pet snakes:

Quote:
JR: Are you talking about the line "All the best of luck with your career"? I think it's really cool the way people interpret the lyrics.
JL: We're not saying that to each other.
JR: Actually, that's something a dude said to Jenny in a very hostile context. We all smile when we sing that line.
JL: Yeah, it was actually a text message that I got.
JR: It translated as "Fuck you".

Um, Jenny spends a lot of time talking about Gallagher in that interview. That kinda scares me, truth be told.
