Jenny Lewis - Jack Killed Mom
Standard Tuning
Note: In Pattern 2 I choose to go up to D in order keep the standard tuning (which I think is important because I use a lot of barre chords in this song). You can drop your low E string to a D if you want it be be exactly the same as the recording.
Also, I play all the chords listed a full barre chords.
I could use some help figuring out how to play that fill thinger. I think it goes C A but I can't make it sound good. Advice is welcome.

A A
when jack was born, he winked at mom
D A
her pretty face was the first he saw
B A
was jack wrong cuz he loved mom?
things went bad 'fore they got worse
mom would pinch jack until it hurt
mama thought her boy was cursed
A A A (strum/fill thinger)
you leave (leave), you leave (leave), you leave that boy to me
D A
oh mom, i love you
B A
you leave that boy to me
A A A
you leave (leave), you leave (leave) you leave that boy to me
D A B A
i know his condition and soon he'll be set free
off at school jack was cruel
he'd become the bully's bull
was jack wrong to mimic mom?
and after school from the corner stool
mom was kissing on the golden rule
jack had become the teacher's fool
you leave, you leave, you leave that man to me
oh, mom, i love you and soon you will be free
with my will and my hands like old solomon
and in your honor, i'm gonna cut that man in half
all the lessons mama would teach
books from rome and ancient greece
men push rocks up stony mountains
turning one fish into five thousand
and a king went blind from his mother's love
a terrible rage came over jack
his mama lying on her back
the one who taught him right from wrong
but knew no better all along
well she got ran through
and jack killed his mom
don't leave, don't leave, don't leave this world to me
oh, mom, i love you
i didn't mean to set you free
with my will and my hands
like old solomon
oh, mom, i love you
i didn't mean to set you free
was jack wrong? jack killed mom

PS, this form really sucks, so the chords aren't lined up properly with the words, and the notes aren't lined up properly with the intro tab. If anyone knows a better way to enter this stuff let me know. |
