SIGH. I don't think I can go to the show tonight.

Stupid school. Stupid people not getting back to me about interviews. Stupid toxic tour I have to go on tomorrow for an article. Stupid having to get up at 5 a.m. for said tour. Stupid stupid stupid.

This'll be the first time I'll have missed W2K in Chicago. At least they're playing a short set and opening for Maria and not someone I really love, I guess?

I just found out W2K is opening for The Breeders in Chicago on 8/13. I don't like the Breeders, but W2K!!!!!!! I'm a live review intern at VenusZine for the rest of the summer. I really hope they send me to cover it.

Eeeeeeeee!

I assumed they were opening all the dates but for Omaha it says Times New Viking is opening...so no W2K? They should just post the damn dates!

Jesus...they should open Omaha of all places! Well, I might not be there yet then anyway...pffft. I dunno, I imagine ticket prices are probably a little high since it's the Breeders (who I don't really care about either).

They're $20 or so, I think, so about $25 after the fees. Which is kind of steep for me when it's just for an opening act.

Poo. Somebody's already covering the Breeders and "maybe" the opening act so they might not be able to have me cover W2K. Sad Unless they make me do an interview (which seems unlikely, plus I'm super awkward), I probably won't be going either. I said W2K deserves a lot more coverage, but I don't think she agrees.

...Though I am kind of dying to do an interview just so I can ask Morgan her new band with Jenny, Maria, and Orenda.

K, that's enough rambling from me.

Yeah, I doubt I'd be able to afford to go. Woulda been fun to go to Chicago though, I've never been.
And what??? Morgan in a band with Jenny, Maria, and Orenda?!?!?!?! That would kinda be too much awesome rolled into one. People might explode.

edit: n/m i see the thread. HOLY SHIT!

It's too bad it's just half of the dates. Even though they don't hit my city, I was still bummed at how few dates they had.

I wish I'd known about it a week ago when I saw Morgan, because it'd be cool to ask her about how it came together.

Does anyone have either of these sets?
- Groupee
- WFUV

I can at least watch the Groupee videos, but I missed out on the WFUV one. Thought I'd ask in case anyone has them and wouldn't mind sharing...

Also: W2K is no longer "our" little band! Crazy! I'm so happy for them.

I know these guys supported the Elected on a few dates but is anything going on with them? Are they working on a new album? It's been a long period of silence!

They are now just called "Whispertown". They have a new 2 song ep for sale. Does anyone know if Vanessa and Co are still in the band?

I'm not sure. Their Facebook only lists Morgan Nagler under Members. It was a different backing lineup when I saw them/her open for the Elected a few months back.

Aww. Sad

Edit: Wait, by new EP do you mean Get Happy/The Everybody? That came out a while ago. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something!

Quote:
Song Premiere: Whispertown - "Open The Other Eye"

Whispertown, the Los Angeles collective formerly known as The Whispertown 2000, has just announced Parallel, the group’s newest EP. Set for release on March 20, Parallel is the band’s second release on Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings’ Acony Records.

As songwriter, singer, guitarist and frontwoman for The Whispertown 2000, Morgan Nagler has opened for acts like Rilo Kiley, Bright Eyes, She & Him, and others. Her reincarnation as simply Whispertown capitalizes on some of those connections, as Parallel was recorded and mixed by Andy LeMaster (Bright Eyes), co-produced by Jake Bellows (Neva Dinova), and executive produced by David Rawlings.

Check out the lead single “Open The Other Eye” below.

Morgan announced Parallel today (finally)!!!

Download "Open the Other Eye" here: http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/av/2012/01/song-premiere-whispertownparallel.html

I think it sounds like Morgan singing on a Faint song, can't wait to hear what they do with "The Fall" and a full band.
