Thanks, Chuck. I'm definitely in it for the long haul, but the irony is that by keeping her going I am prolonging the suffering.
I should add that there is a good amount of joy and pleasure in her life. Again though, when she feels a lot better I get my hopes up and then have to deal with the next drop. Also, people who are hurting (migraine, etc.) can often be kind of angry and irritable, so I am on the receiving end of a lot of her lashing out.
But she is a devoted and passionate mother and mate. Another irony is that I actually get a lot of benefits from her being home and not having a busy work schedule. In other words, I get a lot more companionship and ing than most middle aged husbands. She takes a lot of pride in that despite feeling like a failure for not having a job.
We do have six cats to provide comfort as well.

i had to bring my kitten to the vet today
he's been missing patches of fur and you can see the skin and its all bumpy and red, like a rash. and he's been puking a lot (i think because of excess grooming because hes so itchy?)
the vet today said it could be: fleas, an allergy, or a bacterial infection. So we need to treat for all three. Anti-bacterial injection, new food, and a flea treatment.
Cost me $280. and I have to go back in 2 weeks.
Poor kittens hate me right now _________________ "oh no! jabba is going to choose jenny lewis for his wife. R2D2 will destroy him!"

I found out yesterday my time with Toyota is coming to an end this Friday. It's back to Does-as-he-pleases mojo next week, otherwise known as Unemployed mojo. Sigh. Sigh. Grin. Grin. _________________ "Right is right even if no one does it, and wrong is wrong even if everyone does it."

Well, that's the only good reason to get laid off, to party with Boris. _________________ "Right is right even if no one does it, and wrong is wrong even if everyone does it."

Never mind. Somebody else at Toyota found out my assignment was ending Friday. I got asked this morning if I was still looking to continue with them, I said yes, and they found me a position needing to be filled. I was interviewed a few hours later. And right after the interview I was offered the position.
So, if you're keeping score, that's:
8 a.m. - Thinking I'll be unemployed next week
8:15 a.m. - Told about new position available, submitted for position
2:30 p.m. - Interviewed
3 p.m. - Offered the position
When Toyota wants somebody they don't eff around. LOL _________________ "Right is right even if no one does it, and wrong is wrong even if everyone does it."

Thanks. Toyota has just been a weird ride.
For the position I'm at now they took a look at my resume and asked to do a phone interview the following Monday. That Monday the phone interview lasted ten minutes where they asked me softball questions and I was hired right after the interview. No in-person interview, no follow-up interview--it was all on the basis of my resume.
Today the manager who hired me said I had an excellent resume for the position. I could tell I had at it when she asked if I had any weird scheduling problems and I told her no, that I could start any day. Then she followed it up with, "Even if I were on vacation Monday and you couldn't start Tuesday?"
I mean--once you ask that, that's basically telling someone they have the job.
Toyota really loves my resume, I guess. It's like magical chocolate for them. LOL _________________ "Right is right even if no one does it, and wrong is wrong even if everyone does it."

Sure. I already have two people who want help with theirs. And this was before I even got the job(s) at Toyota. To tell you how good my resume is, my current position is assisting the TRAC department, which is the Toyota-Rent-A-Car Program, and the Specials department, the people who bring you the Lexus Winter To Remember program and whatever other national promotions there. My new job will be with the Master Data Management, which I have no idea what they do.
All three departments say I have the perfect resume for their department and all three said the style is what caught their eye. I just don't know what they're seeing in it, honestly.
Ever since I had a professional resume editor look it over I haven't changed my format/style in ten years. To me it's such a simple format choice that I can't believe other people aren't doing it.
It's basically the standard name and contact info on top of the first page, centered with my name bolded. That's followed by 1 1/2 pages of my experience; listed by name of the company, year(s) worked there, and my responsibilities listed in short bullet points. Next is three lines of my degree and university attended--that still says I graduated with a B.A. in English (Creative Writing), even though all my experience is in credit and finance. I'm surprised more people don't comment on that. And I finish with another three lines on my computer skills/work style.
It's literally 80% job experience and 20% other stuff. That's the only thing I can think of, that it's not a padded resume at all. I put where I worked and what I did in quantitative results. If anything, you could qualify it a very results-oriented resume. I guess that draws a response one way or another. _________________ "Right is right even if no one does it, and wrong is wrong even if everyone does it."

My mother almost got run over by a neighbor backing down the driveway. She had to throw herself sideways and ended getting stitches in her head.
A couple of days in the hospital and she is OK, but didn't need that trauma when still trying to deal with the blow of my sister's suicide.
But once again, I spent a lot of time with her because of this and we had more crisis-induced close moments. |

My best friend, who moved to Australia a few months ago, just told me she can't make it to my wedding. I wasn't surprised because I didn't expect her to come, but she had been considering it. Even though I had prepped myself for the fact she probably wouldn't be there, I cried when I read the email. It's going to be really hard to get married without her there. _________________ happiness is not a fish that you can catch. |

I made the choice not to go to my best friend's wedding. I still regret it.
Maybe your friend will realize what it would mean to you to have her there and change her mind. I hope she does. _________________ "Right is right even if no one does it, and wrong is wrong even if everyone does it."

One of my good friend's dad passed away from a stroke he had a couple weeks ago.
That makes THREE of my best friends with fathers that passed away from illnesses within the past 5 years or so. I can't imagine how cope with it. _________________ + veronica

That is very sad. My dad was 40 when I was born, and I was his first kid, so yeah...he's getting up there in years. Thinking about losing him terrifies me. I'm sorry for your friends' loss. _________________ happiness is not a fish that you can catch. |

If your best friend is who I think you are referring to, then it was understandable at the time that you didn't go. It's interesting to see how the passage of time shows the bigger picture in that you wish you had gone.
Sorry to hear about your friend, Carrie. I remember pictures of you with her and she looked like the nicest person. _________________ Under cherry flowers none are strangers |

Yes, it was understandable. And, yes, no one blames me for it any more. Yet it still changes the fact that this was important to her. Despite my reasons for not going, I should have gone for the one reason that mattered, she wanted me to. _________________ "Right is right even if no one does it, and wrong is wrong even if everyone does it."

I can't imagine not having my dad around. I know he obviously won't live forever, but I want him around as long as possible.
My friend's dad was only in his 40's, I believe, he (and her mom) were pretty young when she was born...unfortunately just poor health led to the stroke. Thankfully, my dad is fairly healthy and although he doesn't eat super healthily, he's doing okay. _________________ + veronica

All this pro-dad stuff makes me feel good.
A kind of related story:
Adri always hung out and watched TV with guys when 'dating'. I was all annoying with 'back in my day we didn't watch TV on dates, go out and do something - anything! '.
So she met a new guy at college and wrote me this:
| Quote: |
| So i think you'd be glad to hear that last night I went out with Sam and didn't just like stay inside watching something. We went bowling and I wasnt horrible! Then we had dinner and then strolled around downtown. I definitely feel like it has become more serious just based off that, plus like you always tell me to do, we got out of the house and had some more variety. |

Thanks - our conversations have just reached the TMI stage even for me. (my final advice was to always spit)
I guess this experience could go down under sad:
I was riding through Stanford and heard this crushingly loud techno blasting from a frat house. I went over to check it out and saw that they had put in a huge (20 by 40 ft) inflatable pool, with much frollicking and splashing going down among the coeds. From the top balcony above the yard they had set up two kegs with plastic hoses dropping to the ground for chugging.
So, after had watched for a minute, a guy at the entrance waives for me to come in. I shook my head but he nodded again to come and pointed out where to enter on the side. So I shook my head again and tried to keep my dignity by doing a double hand-in-the-air pump and rode off. What's maybe saddest is that I wouldn't have gone in even if I was younger and not married, it would have been because I was too shy to party on that intense of a level. _________________ Under cherry flowers none are strangers |
