Anyone have any idea if they're ever going to release a second album? They seem to have broken up (correct me if I'm wrong, it's kinda hard to tell with the lack of information), but I was wondering if they had finished their second album yet/were planning on releasing it.
And for the record, it really pisses me off that DH Records' site has been "under construction" for months on end now. _________________ It's so fucking beautiful |

| Kristin's band now is called the Dum Dum Girls and they are sort of awful. I'll miss GOP. I thought they'd finished recording their second album, though? Wonder if they'll ever release any of it. |

Oh man, I was so bummed when she posted the bulletin on myspace saying they broke up! Does anyone know why they broke up? And, yeah, I thought they had finished recording their second album a long time ago. Hopefully it will get released! I'm glad I was able to see them twice! _________________ I may be here now, but I've never left Montreal. |

Where's this bulletin? I spent several hours a while ago trying to figure out if they had broken up and didn't find anything even close to that official. I did find out about the Dum Dum Girls, though I was hoping it was a second rather than replacement project : /. _________________ It's so fucking beautiful |

Oh, this was a loooong time ago! I don't even see their myspace in my friends anymore :O I just remembered that Kristin said that they'd broken up. She didn't give any sort of reason, either _________________ I may be here now, but I've never left Montreal. |

I remember when I read the headline I knew it was coming. Rumord hit San Diego real bad since their from our town and Kristen posted "fuck the bullshit" as a bulletin our fears were confirmed _________________ “Does a man ever tire of looking at the sunrise…when he's balls deep in Kevin?”

I didn't know Kristin was in DDG. I'll have to check them out.
But FUCK. All the new songs they played on the YYYs tour were great and the 2 song CD-R they passed out is amazing. The album's completed, so it's actually really disappointing if the band won't release it. I think they should do it for the fans.
Sigh.
EDIT: Hoooold up. Kristin is Dee Dee?! That didn't look anything like her in some of the pictures I saw. Anyone know why there's absolutely no mention of GOP and she's going by Dee Dee Penny now? |

Here's the CD-R they gave away on the YYYs tour last year:
1. You Can't See Me
2. Love Button
You Can't See Me is the one you were talking about, Delia. |

| So...the GOP song "Love Button" and the DDG song "Longhair" are one and the same, eh? Hmm, interesting. |

Ahh! Heather, how does it sound compared to Love Button? I love that one so much. Sigh. I wish they would've let the label release the album, but if DDG included a version of it on the cassette, I've pretty much completely given up hope.
Erm, does anyone all of Blissed Out in mp3 format? If so, would you mind sending it to me? I haven't found it anywhere yet. |

I'm quite bad at describing how music sounds, so this probably won't be helpful at all...
Well, Longhair obviously has a more distorted vocal sound than Love Button, and the guitar part is a lot more punk/garage sounding. The drums are also a lot more prominent on Longhair. But they sound sufficiently similar that you definitely know it's the same song right away. The melody and tempo are quite similar. The vocal is a lot more aggressive on Love Button, in that Grand Ole Party style.
And...check your PMs if you haven't already, Kelley. |

| I don't know if anyone still cares, but that unreleased Grand Ole Party album--Under Our Skin--was recently released. I'm listening to it now. It's good. Shame they broke up so soon, although I do like Dum Dum Girls as well. |

I had no idea there was going to be an album released despite their breakup -- thanks for this post!
And Dum Dum Girls are OK... but their music just doesn't do it for me like GOP's unique sound did.
[EDIT] All my searches have only turned up the album in MP3 format. Is that the case? _________________ I am flawed if I'm not free |
