Code:
Rilo Kiley – The Execution of All Things
Tabbed by Jordan Winick (mutok@tmbg.org)

Intro: B C# A B
E F# A E

E             F#                  A
Soldiers come quickly, I feel the earth beneath my feet.
I'm feeling badly, it's not an attempt at decency.
And if you're well off, well then I'm happy some for you.
But I'd rather not celebrate my defeat and
      C#m   B         E
humiliation here with you.

Someone come quickly, this place was built for moving out.  Leave behind buildings, the city planners got mapped out.  Bring with you history and make your hard earned feast.  Then we'll go to Omaha, to work and exploit the
C#m     B     A             C       E
booming music scene and humility.

Bm A G F#7

Bm             A           G         F#7
And we've been talking all night....

(Instrumental over verse chords)

Solo:
-------------|-------------|-----------|---------|-------------------|-16-14----------|-16-14-12-11-12-

-6-6-6-6-7-9-|-------6-7-9-|-----------|---------|-------------------|----------------|----------------
-------------|-------------|-----------|---------|-------------------|----------------|----------------
-------------|-------------|-----------|---------|-------------------|----------------|----------------

Oh god come quickly, for the execution of all things.  Let's start with the bears and the air and then mountains rivers and streams.  Then we'll murder what matters to you and move on to your neighbors and kids.  Crush all hopes of happiness with disease cause of what you did.

-4-4-4--4--4--6-6-6--6--6--9-9-9--9--9--4~

------------------------------------------
And lastly, you're all alone with nothing left but sleep.  But sleep never comes to you, it's just the guilt and forever

C#m    B           A                C
wakefulness of the weak.  It's just you and me....
The execution of all things.

Code:
Rilo Kiley - The Execution of All Things

The other tab for this song, I thought, was correct.  I just tabbed other parts of the song that were not in the first tab...

(0:26 - 0:42)

-16-14-16-17-16-17-19-17-16-14-16-17-16-14-16-17------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------ 2x
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------

These next two parts are played throughout the song at different times and I am not going to
write them all out (you can figure it out)

Part One
---12--14-12--12--12--14-12--12--12--14-12--12--12---16-14--------------------------
-12--12-----12--11--12-----11--10--10-----10--12--12--------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part Two
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-9--99-9/10/12--9--99-9/10/12---9-99-9/10/12-----------------------------------------
-x--xx-x--------x--xx-x---------x-xx-x-------9---------------------------------------
-6--66-6/7/ 9---6--66-6/7/ 9----6-66-6/7/ 9--x---------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------7---------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(2:06 – 2:25)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
-12-12-10-12-10--12-10-12-10----------------------------------------------
----------------9------------9-9/11-12-12-11-11-9-9----------------------- 2x
--------------------------------------------------12-12-9-------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

this leads into the solo (it is played at other parts in the song, too)

(2:31 – 2:33)
-16-14-12-11------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that’s it……just combine the first tab and my tab and I think that is all you need to know.

-Mike-

I've been playing guitar for about 4 years and picked up the bass about a year and a half ago. I figured out the bass to this song. It's probably the funnest song of theirs to play on the bass. Hopefully you fellow bassists will enjoy this.

A quick question: what does the ~ signify?

Thanks.

That means that you let the note ring. Most tabs use that symbol to signify letting a note last longer.

If you had read what I wrote at the beginning of the tab, you would know that.

Sorry, I guess that did sound a little rude. I didn't intend it that way.

Can anyone give me any tips or tablature for the quick, escalating sliding part of the solo? I've been trying to get it down forever and nothing I try sounds quite right.
