Granted, I'm not the most discriminating when it comes to these things, but I've seen a handful of shows at the Orpheum from the balcony, and I actually really like it up there.

I'll be chilling in the mezzanine with a glass of wine. It's probably my favorite location other than row A orch. _________________ Make friends with people and stuff.

Sing A Song A For Them
Love Hurts
ENCORE
Under The Blacklight (Dedicated to Blake)
Godspeed
Fernando

Oh man, I wish I could have been there. I love that she dedicated that to Blake! I think if I ever get to see her, the song I'd be most excited about would be Messiah, followed cloooosely by Godspeed. _________________ "I realize why I cannot fly," said the bird with the broken wing, "Though my lift is gone,

Jesus Christ, that looks like the best set list of any of the stops on this tour. I am so jealous. And it's awesome that she dedicated a song to Blake!!! _________________ happiness is not a fish that you can catch.
The show was great but the crowd was terrible. It felt like there were a lot of fair weather fans there. Acid Tongue was ruined by people clapping completely out of time with the song. Plus a few drunk people were ejected from the show which begs the question - how do you get kicked out of A Jenny Lewis show? BTW, if anybody knows dancing suit idiot please let him know that he is a dick. Is he the same guys that kept yelling during Rabbit Fur Coat? Didn't notice.
That being said, Next Messiah was amazing. Best version of it I've seen performed yet. Under the Blacklight sounded better as a Jenny Show than it did as a RK song. I'll never grow tired of the Love Hurts cover either. Holy shit is that amazing. It always amazes me when I hear people giggle during that song. Heard it at the Echo performance too. I do wish Acid Tongue had been a little better not only because of the crowd but because the band were all behind Jenny and in the other shows they have been to the side on another mic. Sounded better that way. Still though it was an amazing show.
Amazing performance. But yeah, what in the world was up with the crowd? Between dancing suit guy, retardo clapping, and Mexican "aye-yi-yi" guy I think I almost killed someone. Not to detract too much from it, though--it was musically stellar. The Next Messiah blew my mind. _________________ A small lurker in a vast expanse.

My exact feeling. But that's what happens when narcissists start to take over.
Thank God Johnny said that clapping during Love Hurts would throw him off. That made it the highlight of the night for me, although Next Messiah rocked the paint off that old building!
Too soon to ask if anyone has seen an mp3 of the show yet?! _________________ we've been waiting all year

That's so funny because when she sang UTB in San Francisco, she dedicated it to Pierre. _________________ Love me, hate me, say what you want about me. But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy.

oh that suit dick got on my nerves...and yeah, people just shouldn't clap unless they really know what they're doing...as a musician, I find it almost offensive when people clap inappropriately...
did anyone else love Pierre's set?...I got his album on RK's last tour, loved it, so I was psyched to see him perform...
this concert is one of my favorites for sure...I could tell Jenny was having a fucking blast... _________________ "I think it may be against the law to torture people, even if you're a movie star and a Republican..."
Sometimes... some people do wierd shit because they have one of those 'Look At ME.. ME... MEEEE!!!" thing going. Yeah, dude... you know who you are. At first, I thought the guy was having a seizure or something... similar to the seizures I seem to get when I hear Sarah Palin's voice on the radio. See what happens when you leave your house and forget to take your meds? Yep.
Other than that, it was a great night. I even didn't mind the syncopated hand clapping... because, seriously, what do you expect from a room full of white folk, right?
Jenny really seemed happy to be back on the home court... which, I must add, was a really beautiful Art Nouveau Theater that conjured up early Hollywood glamour. Jenny looked beautiful, sounded fantastic, the band was tight and the sound system was just right for the room. The entire set was electrified and Jenny truely secured her position as one of the most talented singer/songwriters on the planet today. Plus, I'm sure there were plenty of friends and family in attendence to welcome her home that added to her joy. I said, 'Hey...' to Blake in the lobby between acts. He's a really nice guy.
I had a second row seat on the Stage Left Main Floor. I had the whole row to myself... so I went back up the aisle and recruited 3 gals to occupy those empty seats... it seemed like such a shame to let them go to waste. And I have found that when you do GOOD things at a gig... instead of annoying the fuck out the rest of the audience... good things will eventually cross your path at other gigs.
So, all in all... it was a great night. The music and songs and that incredible VOICE far out weighed the insignificant sideshow of a spastic tool in the aisle.
Plus, I ran into NightWatchMan himself, Tom Morello on the Tavern downstairs.
peace... love...
i thought this was a pretty solid show (only one of the tour for me, i know some of you are doing more). the crowd did leave a tad to be desired and the dynamics were extreme as could be (rabbit fur coat & acid tongue were about one million times quieter than next messiah & fernando), but the show itself was pretty good.
BTW, if anybody knows dancing suit idiot please let him know that he is a dick. Is he the same guys that kept yelling during Rabbit Fur Coat? Didn't notice.
no, not the same. the suit moron was on the right aisle. the yelling moron who had such great insights as "gorgeous" and "female bob dylan" during dead silent moments of rabbit fur coat was on the left probably a bit over 1/2 way back

his "gorgeous" remark was acceptable... it made jenny blush... his "female bob dylan!!" however, was just plain retarded. haha, jenny made fun of us and said we had no rhythm _________________ "I'll just...I'll just bust out."

I'm a little late to the party, but thought I'd jump in anyways . . .
What a great night it was, Halloween Eve in Downtown LA! My first time at the Orpheum and it is a beautiful venue. Broadway is making a comeback! Very appropriate to the show.
The Duke started things of with a chill, mellow, folksy, funny, and warm hometown show. I hope everyone appreciates his talents like I do. Awesome that every member of RK can sing so well!
Then the energy built as the curtain went up and there stood Jenny in all her magic and wonder playing Rabbit Fur Coat. They played so many songs I have yet to hear live: RFC, Happy, BIG GUNS!, and the UTB "cover". WoW! I kind of liked that the band was right behind her instead off to the side for Acid Tongue. More family style that way. Of course, the Douche in the Suit was RIGHT across the aisle from me. I kept giving him the ol' thumbs down and signaling to security to do something, which they FINALLY decided to do about halfway through. We all cheered when he left to go who knows and who cares where. He was there by himself and definitely on something. Or was he? And a couple of more jerks behind him stood the entire time while the poor polite people behind them asked for them to sit down. So, when Jenny requested that we all stand for See Fernando and The Next Moo-siah, those jerks SAT DOWN! No Lie! WTF? The off rhythm clapping was zinged! by Johnny Rice himself. All in all, I was embarrassed that at such a nice place for J Lew Nite, that my fellow Angelenos would lower the bar so much, but I could of had a rabid badger in my lap and it won't of ruined such an amazing performance. I especially loved when Jenny kicked of her shoes to stand on the piano bench, that was sexy as hell. All of the other favorites were performed, The Charging Sky switched up with "Los Angeles Streets" (I always adore that), everyone had a blast, especially the band and that was the show. What an amazing night . . . And as always, I liked to think that Jenny was singing right at me at certain points.
And if InfinityStars is reading this, hope you had as much fun as I did. Sorry we didn't get to meet, I tried to go to you, but they didn't let me. _________________ and sometimes when you're on you're really fucking on.
i know i'm bringing this post up back from the dead, but was anyone else approached by a girl at this show who was apparently taking pictures for, i believe, a website for style sightings?
She was wearing a leather jacket and she approached me outside of the venue and everything and gave me her email. It's just now that i've finally tried emailing her, but the email is apparently invalid. Was wondering if anyone was asked for their pictures taken as well?
