I hate to be little miss grumpy gills about tabs again...but this isn't right. There are more chord changes than indicated. I've been trying to figure them out but I'm not really having much luck. Maybe someone else can figure it out? Here's a video:

I thought it might be played that way too. I tried it that way even before you posted that and it doesn't sound anything like the song. This is kind of frusterating. I think they should release a book of all of the tabs to their songs. It'll put an end to my sleepless nights. _________________ We shift eachothers body to accept the bullet.
Hmm... I don't know then. Because just thinking over the song, it just doesn't seem like there that many formal chord changes. You'd notice it.
Try hitting them as rock-style power chords so you don't use all the strings. It's the high notes that are going to sound harsh. Also he's got another guitar and Jenny Lewis's bass going on there so things will blend in that sound harsh played solo.
If you don't use all the strings, you're hitting a lot of the same notes, just in a different place on the neck. That way, it's mostly just the bass note that changes, and it should just give you a slightly altered flavor without really sounding different.
Ignore the video and try playing it the way it was originally tabbed out and see if it sounds right. Not exact, but right-- if you get my meaning. If it does, you know he's not formally changing chords. Then it's just a matter of finding which strings to hit.
If it doesn't sound right sticking with the original chords then I guess I'm just totally wrong.

I think the tab sounds awesome but I'm just so anal about playing songs just like the artist does. I can live with what's there. I just wondered if anyone could figure out exactly how to play it. _________________ We shift eachothers body to accept the bullet.

I listened again to the song and watched the video. Here is my take on Blake's chords. The second chord in the verse is a G#m7, played with a hammer-on the 3rd finger. The chord is barred at fret 4 and the 3rd finger waits a beat before landing on fret 6.
Elsewhere in the Chorus I use a C#m7 barred at fret 9. I like the 7th, although the major works just fine.
