Does anyone know the incoherent lyrics that Jenny sings during the end of Spectacular Views during that atmospheric part? I looked everywhere and can't find them.
Jenny sang that same part at a show I went to at the end of Portions but even then I couldnt understand what she was saying. _________________ Love me, hate me, say what you want about me. But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy. |

"I think I'm going out to the palisades(?), where the sea is swishing on the sand."
That's what I could make out, and it's probably not even right. _________________ I am so smart, I'm practically retarded. |

i can clearly make out: "and we were going out to the palisade"
but after that its up for discussion. i think it might be "with our feet squishing all the sand" and then she repeats that again, and then its something longer, but im probably wrong |

why don't you move on now
to the palisades
where the sea pushes on the sand
where the views are cheap
and spectacular
they're spectacular
if you could just take my hand _________________ Rilo Kiley Place - nice |

yeah thats what happened. my next question would be what does it mean and how does it tie into the song? _________________ Love me, hate me, say what you want about me. But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy. |

there is a live recording of Spectacular Views that used to be streamed in the "radio" section of this web site back in the day.... in that version, Jenny is much more deliberate, and the previous poster is right on, in that recording, she repeats "take my hand" several times, and then leads in to an early version of Portions for Foxes, which at the time was unreleased.
why don't we move on out to the pallisades, where the sea pushes on the sand, where the views are cheap, and spectacular, you could just take my hand.... take my hand, take my hand, take my hand.... and i'm bad news, baby i'm bad news |

On wikipedia, it says that this song is "about" or was influenced by Pacific Palisades which is (for people who aren't familiar with the Los Angeles area) an affluent area near Brentwood, Bel Air, and Malibu (I believe). This would make SOME sense seeing as how Jenny grew up in The Valley, which is nearby. I dunno, I just thought I'd share that little tidbit. _________________ Love me, hate me, say what you want about me. But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy. |

nd you started noticing a disturbing thing;
birds eating other birds, just beyond the screen.
So packed up your things and you hopped on the freeway headed east,
and you drove for eight days, aimlessly.
Telling yourself to be humble, singing yourself to be free,
being full aware that it's a middle-aged crisis type thing.
And you drove 'til you saw a sign for a town called Luckey
spelled L-U-C-K-E-Y
where the sugar towers rise to line and meet the streets.
Checked into a motel, slept on cardboard sheets
that covered the blood-stained matress underneath.
Went to the local bar and you got yourself a drink.
Telling yourself to be humble, singing yourself to be free.
It's a middle-aged crisis type thing. _________________ testkingworld http://www.testkingworld.net/
