Any chimp can play human for a day.
Use his opposable thumbs to iron his uniform
and run for office on election day
fancy himself a real decision maker
and deploy more troops than salt shakers.

F                                     G         C
But it's a jungle when war is made,
F                                                      G                         C
and you'll panic and throw your own shit at the enemy.
F                              G                                C     G  Am
The camera pulls back to reveal your true identity.

Look, it's a sheep in wolf's clothing.
G
A smoking gun holding ape.

Any asshole can open up a museum.
Put all of the things he loves on display
so everyone could see them.
The house, a car, a thoughtful wife
ordinary moments in his ordinary life.

But if she breaks a smile, she'll give you away
'cause no one wants to pay to see your happiness.
No one wants to pay to see your day to day
and I'm not buying it either
but I'll try selling it anyway.

Any idiot can play Greek for a day
and join a sorority or write a tragedy
and articulating all that pain
and maybe you'll get paid.

But it's a sin when success complains,
and your writers block- it don't mean shit.
Just throw it against the wall and see what sticks.
Gotta write a hit.
I think this is it.
It's a hit.

And if it's not,
then it's a holiday for hanging
yeah it's a holiday for hanging
yeah it's a holiday for hanging
yeah it's a holiday for hanging
yeah shoo-bop-shoo-bop my baby

Any fool can play executioner for a day,
and say with fingers pointed in both directions
'he went thataway',
It's only a switch or syringe,
aww, exempt from eternal sins.
But you still wear a cross,
and you think you're gonna get in.

Ah, but the pardons never come from up-stairs.
They're always a moment too late,
but it's entertainment
keep the crowd on their toes,
it's justice, we're safe.
It's not a hit, it's a holiday
shoo-bop-shoo-bop my baby

It's a holiday for hanging, yeah
It's a holiday for hanging, yeah
It's a holiday for hanging, yeah
It's a holiday for hanging, yeah

I'm a holiday for hanging,
I'm a holiday for hanging,
I'm a holiday yeah
I'm a holiday for hanging,

It's a holiday for hanging, yeah

I was watching a few videos of this song and I saw that Jenny uses a capo (I'm not sure but I think it's on the 2nd fret...it could be the 3rd though...I can't tell). I'd like to know how to play it the way she does if anyone can figure it out. Go to youtube.com and watch the videos...you'll see what I'm talking about. Thanks! Smile

It's the 2nd fret. I'm quite sure.

It's exactly the same chords. If you've seen the Jimmy Kimmel episode with them, it gives lots of close-ups on jenny playing these chords.

the chords are relative to the capo.

If there was no capo, you'd be playing G-D instead of F-C.

I don't think so. I've played it with the 'F-C' chords without the capo and it sounds like it should. I just want to know how she's playing it with the capo on there. I really think you should watch the videos on youtube. She doesn't use F at all. Trust me.

I watched the videos - she's not using the full chords, but she is still playing F-C. She's playing the first bar on the upper register (xx321x) to (x3201x)

Ok. That's what I thought. But what about the other chords? I see that she slides up the fret board for one of the chords. It would be very helpful to me and everyone else who wants to play it the right way if it was tabbed exactly the way it's played. I dunno...it just bothers me to not play it the way she does. I'd figure it out on my own but I don't have access to a capo at the moment. When I finally have one, I'd like to play it. Smile

The third fret would make a lot more sense though... cos an F would be played in the shape of a D, C as A, G as E and you could slide to the twelfth fret of the A-snare for Am... Dunno though...
